Carlisle annual Dorset Horn & Poll Dorset Sheep Breeders association sale was held on 30THAug . Although a smaller entry this year, some real quality sheep forward were well rewarded.
Judge for the day was Mr Richard Fitton of the Dynamite flock found his Champion Sandylane H9236 a tremendous Ewe Lamb from Sam Driver. This Hydes Gaucho daughter had previously won female champion at Todmorden show earlier this year and sold for the days top price of 1700gns to Alec Steff and his Waggonners flock.
Mr Steff also bought the reserve champion female at 1400gns again from Sam Driver. This time for the super in lamb shearling ewe Sandylane G9015 who stood Breed Champion at the Great Yorkshire Show, she was a Downkillybegs Flintoff daughter carrying a pair of lambs to Polgreen E751
Taking the Male champion was Christina Johnson with her powerful Shearling ram Bamburgh Gola, a Ballytaggart Elite son . Reserve Champion in the Rams went to Sandylane Hitman a Downkillybegs Enhancer son much admired through the show season having stood Male Champion at Great Yorkshire and Breed and Reserve Interbreed at Todmorden he later sold for 600gns to Phillip Holmes.
Best Horned Dorset on the day was awarded to Alex Birch and Karen Hodgson for their lovely ewe lamb High Rakes H0040 a daughter of High Rakes Endeavour who sold for 350gns and was bought online by Jeremy Durrant for his Hydes flock.
Overall a good clearance was achieved on the day for the individual lots along with some pens at the end of the sale.
